Hello everyone,

I have been suffering from severe back and neck pain for quite some time. Although I exercise regularly and have visited doctors several times—who only prescribe me ineffective pills—it hasn’t improved. 🙁

I have a feeling that my mattress might be the cause. Last week, during a business trip, I stayed in a hotel for a week and experienced less pain. The mattress was very comfortable, and I also slept quite deeply. 🙄 Could you recommend a good mattress and pillows? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Looking forward to your replies 🙂

Best regards, Farmay :-) 🙂

Unfortunately, recommendations don’t help at all. You have to try them yourself.
We were strongly recommended one, and it felt quite comfortable when we tried it out, but I immediately get back pain (as a stomach sleeper) if I don’t put a flat pillow under my stomach. I weigh 55 kg (121 lbs) and am 1.67 m (5 ft 6 in) tall. Unfortunately, we missed the 100-day return period.

Go to a good furniture store and have a mattress delivered; try it out and exchange it as many times as needed until you find the right one for you.

Recently, Stiftung Warentest tested a mattress priced at 199 euros (approximately 215 USD), which was the top-rated product from an online retailer.
The test, dated August 25, 2016 – 252 mattresses tested – also covered different mattress types. Maybe this information will be helpful to you?

Hi,

What kind of exercise do you do? Remote diagnoses are tricky and should be approached with caution, but this sounds like classic pain caused by insufficiently trained neck and back muscles. In other words, if you go to the gym: maybe have someone show you exercises specifically for strengthening your neck, back, and abdominal muscles. It worked wonders for me!

Another possibility: Is there a draft in your bedroom?

You can only find out by trying. Personally, I think the hype around mattresses costing 1000 € is nonsense. I have been sleeping on an 80 € Ikea mattress for years. I only get back pain if I don’t exercise for weeks and work too much.

I would spontaneously recommend that you check with the hotel to find out exactly what kind of mattresses they use. If you have back pain, it could really be caused by the wrong mattress. Maybe you should visit an orthopedic specialist and get advice from them. Otherwise, I would also suggest comparing options online and choosing something there. When I wanted to buy mine, after a long comparison, I decided on #link removed by moderation; building expert. Until you are completely sure where your pain is coming from, you could also consider massage therapy as a temporary solution. That would probably help!

Hope I was able to help you 😕 and wish you good luck and patience!
