Hello everyone, I recently got a Malm bed from IKEA, and it squeaks very noticeably with every movement. I find this surprising because the bed seems quite sturdy and is made of wood. I have already checked whether the screws are loose, but so far I have not found any looseness. My question is therefore: What could be causing the squeaking in the Malm bed, and how can it be best and permanently fixed? Are there specific spots I should pay special attention to, or are certain aids like lubricants or washers recommended? Thanks in advance for your tips!

Hey, I’d like to share a quick tip: When I had the same issue with my Malm, I simply applied a bit of talcum powder to the contact points – it works like a lubricant but doesn’t leave any stains and feels really clean. The squeaking stopped, and the bed moves more smoothly, almost like it’s freshly oiled 🙂 If that doesn’t help, you’ll probably need to replace the problematic parts or re-tighten the screws.

Tighten the screws, apply lubricant (silicone spray or talcum powder) to the contact points, and place felt pads between the wood. This usually stops the squeaking.
