Hello everyone, I have been experiencing an issue for some time now where the doors of my Billy wardrobe squeak or creak when opening and closing. This is not only annoying in everyday use, but the unpleasant noise also occurs even with a light touch on the doors. I suspect the problem may be related to the hinges or the material, but I’m not sure how to best and permanently fix it. Does anyone have experience with this specific issue with Billy doors or similar furniture? I would appreciate any helpful tips, especially regarding possible causes and the best ways to resolve it.
Great thread, I have to say! The topic of squeaky Billy doors was driving me almost crazy!
I’ve tried almost everything: tightening screws, using Teflon and silicone spray, adding small felt strips – and what can I say? It worked!
A little tip: If the squeaking is really bad, it’s worth completely removing the hinges and cleaning them thoroughly before applying oil. Sometimes dirt gets stuck inside the hinge and causes stubborn noises.
Don’t give up, that’s the most important thing! I finally had peace after two days of trial and error. 🙂
