Hello everyone,

I came across this forum while searching for a construction community. I hope you can help me with my concern.

Today, a man with a strange device was on our property, but we hadn’t "ordered" him. He had a monitor/computer strapped to his chest and, as he was leaving, he was dragging this "thing" along the ground behind him.

Eine Person in leuchtender Warnweste schiebt eine Person im Rollstuhl auf dem Gehweg.

I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me exactly what was being measured here.

Thank you very much in advance.

Well, my husband would have started a conversation with him, just some small talk to break the ice, but he is not German either.

Serbian?

Maybe it is also related to the fact that the gentleman has been walking the streets with his device in tow for eight hours a day for decades. In such a case, you tend to focus on the essentials. Anyway, I have received an answer.

You can’t imagine how often I get asked about what I’m filming when doing surveying work – very often, and not only by children – not always meant seriously. The jokers are usually even more annoying because they think their joke is especially clever. How I respond really depends on my mood that day.

On private property, I’m always polite, even though I don’t formally notify anyone for a one-minute measurement in the front yard, which is technically not correct.

With children, it’s usually genuine curiosity, whereas with adults it’s more often suspicion or fear –

He has been asked the same question multiple times a day for years and is sometimes forced into small talk. I wouldn’t feel like dealing with that either.

He can just wear a sign around his neck.
