ᐅ External thermal insulation system (ETICS) installed by a professional company! Additional costs for a few extra centimeters of insulation?

I am having an external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS) with EPS 035 and 14 cm (5.5 inches) installed by my turnkey builder in about one month. This will be carried out by a company located roughly 6 km (3.7 miles) away. I have now asked this company what it would cost to increase the insulation thickness by an additional 2 or 4 cm (1 or 2 inches). Regarding labor effort (the exterior window sills are sufficiently deep, etc., and already installed), there should be no additional work involved.

The company has offered me an extra charge of 4 euros/net per cm to increase the insulation thickness. Where are the company owners? I am curious what you typically charge for these extra centimeters. I find this price very high!

Thank you in advance.

It’s not about whether it’s economical! For me, the question is what a fair additional price is for using 2 or 4 cm (approximately 1 or 1.5 inches) more insulation.
No one here can really answer whether that is fair because we don’t know the supplier’s internal processes.

What matters is how much additional effort this requires compared to the standard option. Does the supplier simply pull the thicker insulation from stock and offer it as a standard choice, like selecting between diesel and premium fuel at a gas station? Or is this something they never do, requiring them to recalculate everything—from purchasing through transport to on-site construction—and possibly retrain the workers? We don’t know. Therefore: get two or more quotes and then choose the most reasonable one (not necessarily the cheapest). If you only have one offer or can only get one (such as from a developer), then that’s the situation, and it comes back to the more important question of whether it makes sense overall, which can often be answered from an economic standpoint.
