Hello dear craftsmen,

We have a visible crack in our concrete ceiling through which water runs when it rains. Since this is a condominium association, we cannot simply open up the ceiling to trace the water’s path, nor can we access the outside to locate the source of the water.

I have found something called “Water Stop” online, which can be used to seal cracks waterproof. Can this product also be applied to ceilings? Does anyone have experience with this? Specifically, does the water then remain trapped in the crack above?

Thank you very much for your feedback!
Best regards

What is on top?

However, as it appears, the reinforcement is rusting. Repairing that professionally will be very, very expensive.

Above that, there are 7 more floors, which makes it difficult to identify the source of the water.
I saw this water stop product that can be painted over cracks. Could I leave a small spot open where the water can drip out, so that I don’t have to place buckets all over the room?

It’s better to make a temporary structure using, for example, battens and a tarp

with a slope leading to your bucket or paddling pool

you might be able to attach it to the threaded rods

sealing it from underneath probably won’t work
