Hi.

I don’t want to overuse the terms healthy living or ecological. Our wall construction should ideally meet these criteria and withstand the wear and tear from two small children.

The planned wall build-up is as follows:
  • Primer
  • Full-surface silicate filler
  • Paint fleece
  • Silicate dispersion paint

Originally, I was considering a mineral filler plus a filler fleece and silicate paint. I also like the build-up with paint fleece because it seems more durable. Walls do take a lot of abuse with children around. For the paint, I would choose a washability class 1 so that dirty “hands” can be wiped off easily.

However, with this build-up including the paint fleece, the silicate dispersion paint won’t naturally silicify, right? What do you think about this build-up?

Diffusion-open refers to a fixed threshold (sd ≤ 0.5). I am not familiar with the specific products. When I researched this in the past, cellulose-based fleeces were definitely rated with a lower sd value than fiberglass fleeces. If you have found specific products that differ from this, that is fine. Yes, the higher price is also an issue.

@Tolentino Thank you.
The fiberglass fleece has an SD value of less than 0.01, and the adhesive is 0.02. The primer is around 0.05. That sounds reasonable to me.

I believe you, but just out of curiosity, where did you find the data? It’s not mentioned anywhere in the technical datasheets on the homepage...

@Tolentino enter the 3 letters and silicate products pdf as a search on Google. The first result is a PDF from the manufacturer's website. Am I allowed to share the PDF link here as well?

I visited Sto and downloaded the PDF technical datasheet, safety data sheet, and the declaration of performance. I couldn’t find an SD value?!

Ah, found it. Strange that they print it in a general brochure and the product-specific datasheet but not...

@Tolentino yes. I also find that strange, but anyway, found it. I will discuss this now with the painting company.
