We are building a KFW 55 house, and the heating system will be an air-to-water heat pump.

The underfloor heating has now been installed (according to the heat load calculation).

I am surprised that the distance to the balcony doors is almost 30 cm (12 inches), meaning no pipes were laid in these reveals. Could this cause problems? Thermal bridging? Will I have cold feet when standing there?

Until now, we have always used gas, so sorry if my questions seem basic. However, I have never lived with such a low supply temperature in a new building before.

If this is problematic, then the question is how it can be fixed, since the underfloor heating has already been installed. The question is to what extent it can still be adjusted.

We wanted to be present during the installation, but someone just came by in the evening without notifying us.

I did the calculations... our living area of 35 sqm (375 sq ft) should have 3 heating circuits and more than 300 meters (980 feet) of pipe... We only have 200 meters (655 feet).

I don’t understand this. Isn’t this basic knowledge for contractors? How can such a thing go wrong?

If this were just one trade, it would be one thing, but we discovered such errors in almost every trade. Thankfully, so far we have always been able to prevent anything major...

All the contractors are local and recommended. I can only shake my head.

The heating circuit must not exceed 100 meters (330 feet).

Yes, so 3 x 100 m would have been suitable instead of 3 x 70 m.

I measured it once; the distance from the balcony door is actually 60 cm (24 inches), and the spacing between the pipes is 15 cm (6 inches) instead of the agreed 10 cm (4 inches).

This can have very simple causes. Too little material in the vehicle, but the job needs to be finished quickly...

Apart from the fact that he should, of course, install it as agreed, you cannot simply say all circuits are 100 m (330 ft) long. It depends much more on the design, pressure losses, and so on.

Thank you all, the entire underfloor heating system in the living and dining room has just been completely reinstalled, and now everything is fine.
