Hello,

I want to plaster drywall sheets on the ceiling. Are there any tips for achieving a good result? Which joint compound do you recommend? Do I need any special tools?

Thanks for the help

Hello House Building Switzerland,

It is important to work carefully and to sand a little more rather than too little. For beginners, I recommend using premixed filler compound. I wish you much success and, above all, a lot of patience.

Hello!

I can only agree with the previous commenter. Of course, you can mix the joint compound yourself. I think a bonding plaster based on gypsum should also work for this. The most important thing is to sand it well afterward so that the surface is 100% smooth, and no seams, waves, or irregularities show through the wallpaper.

It's actually quite simple—I did it for the first time when I was 15 and got perfect results. One more tip: be generous when applying the compound; it's better to put on a bit too much than too little, as the excess can be sanded smooth. I would use a straight edge for leveling; this is the easiest and fastest method compared to using a spatula.

Best regards

Yes, I also think it’s no problem to do this yourself. Just use any gypsum-based filler and get started. As already mentioned, the most important thing is to sand properly to achieve a smooth surface.
