We planted a thuja hedge last September. Until now, it looked really healthy. However, more and more plants are turning brown over time. The brown plants are very easy to pull out. It seems like the roots haven’t taken hold at all. What could be the reason for this? Especially since the plants were previously quite green and had grown well.
In autumn, we also planted a few small plants because supposedly they would still take root. The result was that two larger bushes were simply pushed out by the heavy snow; the root balls were still intact exactly as they were at planting. The spring was extremely dry and cold; we even watered at the end of February/beginning of March, otherwise everything would have died.

And pools are not meant for drowning... and yet children still drown repeatedly. There are inedible and poisonous plants, and children can be taught from a certain age what they are and how to handle them. It is also possible to try to eliminate all dangers and create the safest possible environment. Both strategies are generally “successful,” and arguing about them is pointless; I tend to favor gradual exposure to hazards.

Because parents don’t pay attention… Of course, accidents do happen because parents are not watchful. However, blaming assumed negligence as the universal cause of accidents involving children is a harsh, unjustified, and heartless slap to everyone who has experienced a genuine tragedy. I write this as someone not affected by such a misfortune. I am grateful for that; it is no achievement.

The discussion was exclusively about children drowning in pools, not about general accidents involving children.
