Hello everyone,

we have the problem that the edges of our terrace steps are quite sharp. Is there something like seat cushions or similar for this purpose? Basically, we want to be able to sit on the steps comfortably. But since the edges are so sharp, it hurts or damages clothing as soon as you move around a bit. I was thinking of something like classic garden chair cushions, which are often almost tailor-made with a seat and a backrest part. I had hoped that there would be something similar available for stone stair edges or terrace steps. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything.

Do you know if something like this exists?

Or do you have any other ideas on how to make it as simple as possible so that you can lie down or sit on the steps comfortably?

In almost every furniture or garden store, you can find cushions. If that’s not enough for you: Ikea, Amazon, etc. Beer cushions would work too.

I would have already installed the flexible conduit and added a chamfer by now.

Will it still look good then? Do you have a stone like that left over and could you test it?

Yes, you definitely need a chamfer.

There are upholsterers or interior decorators who can custom-make something like this in a wide range of textile materials.

Of course, such items are also available in waterproof fabrics, for example from the marine sector. Perhaps awning fabric for the top and bottom, combined with a durable PVC material that can be wiped clean. A slightly firmer composite foam as padding completes the setup.

Even a good synthetic leather would withstand a brief rain shower without damage. The important thing is that the foam does not get wet. The downside, of course, is that it can cause sweating.

I would recommend the Airtex product from Mehler for this. It’s a top-quality material.
