ᐅ Table leg Ikea Billsta screw too narrow?

We feel that the threads for attaching the base plate to the leg on the Billsta table leg are too far apart, or the screw is too narrow – in other words: no matter how much you turn, nothing connects.

Have we misunderstood something? Or have others had similar experiences?

Maybe a product defect... Please measure the inner diameter and the outer diameter. Do they fit?

Thanks for the hint. We went to exchange it today: it really was a manufacturing defect where the threads were not cut...
