Hello :-)
I own an old house (built in 1900) that I live in, located in a former mining settlement. The houses are so close together that the neighbor’s washbasin drain pipes run directly through our shared wall. His bathroom is right next to our children's bedroom. The sound of running water is very loud. Now I am looking for a way to reduce the noise without having to tear down the wall. Does anyone have a good idea?
Best regards,
Marc

I recommend installing a stud wall, as this significantly reduces the noise level.
If these water noises are really that loud, only a stud wall will help. I don’t think just wallpaper is sufficient. Of course, adding such a wall with proper insulation will make the room smaller again.
However, here you have to weigh reducing the noise level against losing the space.
