schnitzelmichel7 Oct 2013 10:04Hello!
A few years ago, we had various stainless steel railings installed on our house.
The metalworker left us some abrasive pads and maintenance oil.
Now the abrasive pads are all used up, and I want to buy new ones, but I’m not sure which type (grit or similar) to get.
Can anyone here recommend a suitable pad?
Also, what kind of oil was given to us? Under what name is such a product usually sold?
Thank you for your help.
Michel

How are we supposed to know what exactly your metalworker gave you?
Get a commercially available stainless steel cleaner with abrasive properties (polishing grains) and free from hydrochloric acid; this should help you get rid of surface rust caused by metal dust from the environment. There are also special cleaning cloths; visit a specialist supplier and ask for advice ... not just the local hardware store.

Of course, you can’t know what our metalworker left behind for us...
I just assumed that there is a type of fleece mainly used for the purpose mentioned.

schnitzelmichel schrieb:This is probably referring to the cleaning cloths mentioned – I believe with slaked lime – but a professional would know better; so no guarantee.
I just thought there might be a specific type of fleece primarily used for the mentioned purpose.
