The back of the neighbor’s garage has always been unattractive. However, it should be the (hopefully) perfect spot for two new kiwi plants. For this, they needed a sturdy trellis framework, which we built ourselves using old wooden beams and 8 mm (5/16 inch) steel reinforcing bars. In between, a quick coat of paint… voilà… like new. Of course, we asked the neighbors beforehand.

Before and after:

Garden strip next to a wall with wooden trellis panels, planting beds, and paved walkway.

Garden wall with wooden posts and wire mesh, planted strip along the paved path

Our kiwifruit plants are in their sixth year. They have never flowered. No flowers mean no fruit. They'll be removed this autumn! 🙁

How tall are your kiwi plants now? Do you have a photo? We have these small kiwi berries from „Kiwiri“ and are hoping for a harvest.

Could it be that they needed to be grafted first?

They’re huge. But we do prune the vigorous shoots. I can’t provide photos right now because we’re camping again. They were bought as female and male plants from Lubera.
