At the moment, I’m dealing with the issue of where to put the bins. I don’t want to put them under the carport, but leaving them out in the open looks ugly.
We have now made a small concrete slab, but how the whole setup should look is still causing some “minor” disagreements.
How have you solved this? The standard bins are unfortunately too low. Is there a manufacturer who makes custom-sized ones?
Some may laugh, but this is slowly becoming a real point of contention for us...
I’ll try to upload a picture later.

Today we got this piece from the neighbor for 20 €: he is expanding his trash corner (it will be about a 6sqm (65 sq ft) enclosed area with a hedge at the front corner of the property, with a gravel base and space for 4 bins), and we will adapt this good piece to match our wooden facade
We also got a similar piece.
After 9 months, it’s not exactly perfect anymore, but that might be due to my limited DIY skills or the still uneven ground in this area (gravel layer).
Otherwise, if you have a bit of DIY ability, building your own is recommended when you can’t find a suitable one. It shouldn’t be too difficult.
Get 4 or 8 beams (recently available at the big hardware store - have them cut to the right size). Buy boards or possibly salvage them from some old pallets. The locks and hinge straps were available just last week at Lidl.
PS: This is how I plan to put together our compost bin. Hopefully, it will work even without much craftsmanship.
I initially wanted to do it myself as well, but then I got something similar to what ypg has, though in a higher quality (I can’t assess ypg’s quality, but there are cheap options for around 100 and more expensive ones around 400).
As an alternative, I considered posts with base plates (not anchored in the ground) and boards, or a three-sided structure made from welded wire mesh panels, also without ground anchoring, with privacy screening or covered with climbing plants.
