Hello dear forum,

I have to use the shower at my workplace. A friend recently told me that it could be bad for my home’s plumbing system if it is never used, so I wanted to ask if this is true and how I could prevent potential issues. I also read something online about Legionella bacteria but couldn’t find clear guidance on how to handle it properly. For example, is it enough to run the water briefly every 2 to 4 weeks? Since I don’t really know much about this topic, I wanted to ask if you have any advice on the proper approach?

Thank you very much.
Best regards

Surely you’re not serious about that question – are you? What about weekends and so on? No personal hygiene?

Hmm... sounds like a troll.

Sports club activities are almost always scheduled on weekends. This means there are times when I may have to or have the chance to shower away from home every day for months. Of course, it also happens at home occasionally, but as mentioned, during business trips and similar periods lasting months, I simply skip the shower.

Then turn them on for three minutes.

How often, and do you need to open the cold and hot water taps separately to prevent Legionella, or is lukewarm water enough since both come out at the same time?
