There is a vent pipe running across my roof terrace.
I am currently planning a roof structure (pergola), and the pipe is "in the way," so I am considering what options might be available. However, I am not entirely clear on how the system works—for example, whether sewer gases are released continuously, intermittently, or not at all through the pipe. Do modern systems usually have a ventilation valve or similar installed? Would that possibly cause any noise?
The diameter of the pipe (13 cm (5 inches)) must not be reduced under any circumstances.
