I have holes on each wooden window, located at the top and bottom sides. These seem to be some kind of expansion or drainage holes. They were mostly filled with a type of sealant, which I removed for painting. I left the holes open. Now, after about 4 years, I need to repaint the windows, and I suspect that condensation has collected in these holes, causing the paint around these areas to peel more than elsewhere.
My questions are:
1. What are these holes for?
2. Should they be sealed or left open?
3. If they need sealing, what type of material should be used?
Best regards,
R.Sonnenschein
