Hello,
does anyone know approximately how much it costs to install a simple roof window in a plain gable roof? The roof is still bare and will be newly insulated. So the timing is good. But how much should I roughly expect to invest? Just a rough estimate would be great to see if it’s even a feasible option. Any ideas?

Yes, I believe that. It seems there aren’t actually that many practical experiences available on short notice as it appears.

But kaho. This is not a guessed price, but the actual additional cost paid for one Velux window in the roof instead of none.

I think 1000 euros is a good starting point. Depending on size and features, it can also be 800 euros or 2000 euros.

Double-glazed plastic windows, around 800 euros, for example Roto.

Installation/travel time 3-4 hours x 60 euros.

We paid about 1800 euros each for triple-glazed, slightly larger windows including installation.

Wow, 1800 is quite a bit. Is triple glazing not automatically required for living areas?
@Karsten: Is that Velux triple glazed? How big is it approximately?

Triple glazing is still not really standard for roof windows. Usually, the frame is also thicker and better insulated.

Financially, it usually does not pay off. In winter, the snow also stays on the window.

I find 1,800 euros for a 140x140 cm (55x55 inches) triple-glazed, electrically operated window with a rain sensor reasonable.

Construction site interior work: Timber frame structure and metal wall

Double-glazed. Large. Like a woman.
