Hello and good evening everyone,

Our builder decided to start construction quickly this spring due to the good weather. Because of this, we were not informed as agreed about painting the visible and non-visible (inside) underside of the roof. When we asked the painter how we should proceed with the painting, we received the following answer:

"Undersides, for example of roofs or carports, are often permanently exposed to condensation. Please consider that, in unfavorable cases, the buildup of condensation moisture on the components (backside) can cause damage to the exterior coating if the backsides are not coated."

We are now somewhat worried that over time we might have a rotting roof.

How should we proceed? We have a Dekra construction inspection. Is painting the inside underside of the roof required or recommended by any DIN (German Industrial Standard), so that we could raise this as an issue?

Thank you,

Jörg
