I have received two quotes for the roof covering.
The first is for an aluminum standing seam roof,
the second for a trapezoidal steel sheet, fully galvanized and coated with a three-layer paint system.
The price difference is around 10,000 (currency), which we could definitely use for other parts of the build.

Visually, they look identical (similar to standing seam).
Personally, I would prefer aluminum, as rust is impossible with it.
The person who offered the trapezoidal steel sheet claimed (understandably, since they want to make a sale) that due to the full galvanization and triple paint coating, the steel roof would be just as durable.

Can I trust that? Are there good reasons to choose the aluminum standing seam roof instead?

Well, there wasn’t much of a response... What did you decide in the end? I could imagine that the steel option might be a bit less prone to dents during installation and later inspections (like from a chimney sweep or similar).

We also need to decide on a roof soon – standard or something different. Can you share any experiences?

Thanks a lot and best regards,

Carsten

Unfortunately, not much came of it.
We decided on a Prefa standing seam roof, since it is made of aluminum.
So far, we are satisfied, but whether the roof was worth it, I probably won’t be able to tell you for another 30 years.
