cas409Hello,
we are planning to buy two 2m (6 ft 7 in) Pax wardrobes and place them directly next to each other.
We want the setup to look symmetrical. Normally, the left sliding door overlaps the right one.
For one of the wardrobes, however, we would like it to be the other way around — the right door should overlap the left — purely for symmetry.
At our local Ikea store, they couldn’t help us. They just said it probably isn’t possible.
Why? According to the manual, the left door always has to overlap the right one.
Is there a valid technical reason that currently prevents this?
What would need to be done to make it work, if possible?
Best regards,
Felix

Good evening,
I am currently working on a similar setup, but with "two separate 100 cm (39 inches)" units, mainly to avoid having the "thicker end" positioned in the middle of the room – and it works quite well. Of course, you need to think it through a bit.
What doesn’t work directly is the soft-close mechanism installed in reverse, as I just learned the hard way (unfortunately only after almost completing the assembly – planning and all…). Hopefully, with some tinkering, it’s still possible. More details here https://www.hausbau-forum.de/threads/spiegelverkehrte-Montage-sanftschliesser-für-pax-schiebetuer.19423/
Regards,
Cedric
Edit: I have an AULI / UGGDAL combination. No idea if other door types differ enough in their construction to make this impossible (without further modifications).
