Hello,

I originally wanted to say goodbye to the wallpaper and try a textured paint finish instead of applying another layer of standard DIY store emulsion paint.

Now I have scraped off the rock-hard wallpaper and roughened up the underlying cursed oil-based paint (or whatever was used to paint kitchens in 1930).

So now I also have to remove the leftover wallpaper adhesive... I scrubbed the wall with a stiff brush and hot water, which loosened the glue but didn’t remove it from the wall. Then I rubbed the wall thoroughly with towels, which just made the adhesive stick even more. I did this twice. It was a nightmare! Unfortunately, there are still adhesive residues left on the textured plaster. Not as much as before, but the instructions say: “completely” in bold, underlined, and large letters.

I wanted to ask the professionals what happens if I just apply the mineral primer directly on the wall and then the lime plaster on top, without removing the adhesive residues? Sometimes instructions can be exaggerated—I know that from other areas.

Best regards

Daniel
