This is polymer joint sand.
It is reinforced with plastic and hardens slightly. Available at building material suppliers or in well-stocked hardware stores in 25kg (55 lb) bags.
It is sold as a single-component or two-component system. When applying, it is important to work carefully to avoid any residues on the stones later.

...thank you for the kind advice!
I absolutely need to correct myself regarding SEMIN – aside from advice given at hardware stores ( ):
A kind employee of the company, Mr. Weins, has truly tried to help honestly throughout all those weeks (months!). And look: we were refunded for our time and materials! A generous gesture, definitely a great move – from my perspective, it would have been hopeless without Mr. Weins.
Hereby, I correct my statement: with Mr. Weins as a "product advisor" and helper in need, and with very careful application (perhaps with slightly revised instructions on the product regarding application temperatures??), weed control is definitely achievable even with SEMIN’s polymeric sand.
It took time – in the end, the terrace looks great and we have gained a lot of experience. THANK YOU, MR. WEINS!
Best regards, everl71
