There are still some stumps where the garage is supposed to be, the largest about 60 cm (24 inches) in diameter and approximately 2.5 m (8 feet) away from the neighbor’s garage. Can the excavator that will also dig the foundation hole handle this? Could the roots have already grown under the neighbor’s garage, meaning it might be damaged when removing the stump? Or what would you suggest?
The excavator can handle it.
Spruce trees have shallow roots. I assume the roots are already under the garage. Try digging a few holes around the edge of the garage.
When removing the stump, the root suckers are cut off or sawed with a chainsaw and remain in the soil. The garage should not be damaged in the process.
