Hello everyone,
I have heard that it can be beneficial to register a business when doing self-construction. Can anyone confirm this? Maybe someone has already done it.
Thanks and regards, Alex

buying cheaper as a company. I could imagine that. When it comes to building materials, “company prices” are not necessarily cheaper. The purchase volume is what matters. As a self-builder, you can negotiate excellent terms with a building materials supplier. Private customers have stronger warranty rights than companies. This should be taken into account.
For purchasing materials for a single house, having a business license usually does not provide any advantage.
And compensates for the disadvantages

Chamber fees
Broadcasting fees
Liability insurance
Annual financial statement
Trade tax
Value-added tax / VAT
Income tax
Registration for payroll and social security contributions for all construction helpers
Wages above minimum wage
And so on
And then the tax office declares it a hobby activity

All those who wrote here obviously don’t have experience in this area.
Thanks anyway for now.
Regards, AlexYes!
But you also have to _read_ what is being told to you here.

I have to smile a bit.
I know this from the 1970s as a satire.
Maybe it’s time again to recommend the film to our homebuilding Netflix fans.
Once in a Lifetime – The Story of a Owner-Occupied Home
Available as 2 purchase DVDs.Off-topic... Thanks for the tip! All three episodes were available on Prime for 4.50 euros. We watched all three back-to-back simply because it was so delightful! My personal highlight was the bathroom exhibition. Until now, I never understood why green or pink basins and sinks were installed back then. But well presented, with plenty of light and air, they don’t look nearly as bad as afterwards in the 4m² (43 sq ft) bathroom 😉

Off-topic: there’s another one by the Semmelings where they go on a ski holiday. Also good 🙂
