Hello everyone,

this year we are building a single-family house using timber frame construction.

We would like to have a recessed mirror cabinet in the bathroom. In timber frame construction, can you simply install a mounting frame and then fit any cabinet you like, or do you need specific cabinets with aluminum frames?

Maybe someone has experience with this.

Best regards

We have a timber frame construction and a recessed mirror cabinet. This was not a problem at all; during the planning phase, we simply included a wall niche with the desired dimensions and later installed the recessed mirror cabinet. No aluminum frame or anything like that was needed. We just left a shadow gap on all sides, which looks great and was completely hassle-free. Of course, you can also install a regular mirror cabinet in such a wall niche.

No, just choose the cabinet, get the installation manual with the structural opening dimensions required, and have the niche built accordingly. Then hang the unit in later.
