ᐅ Raising an Ikea Malm Bed – Any Ideas?

Hello everyone,

I have a question for experienced DIY enthusiasts. I want to raise my Malm bed by 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches). My idea is simply to attach a beam on both the right and left sides underneath the headboard and footboard, acting like an elongated leg. Will this hold, or do the headboard and footboard need to rest completely on the floor?

Has anyone tried raising it even further? (about 20 cm (8 inches))
What would be the best way to proceed if the attached nightstands are screwed on?
