ᐅ Question/Fermacell boards: Should there be a joint or gap between the panels?

OrionHello everyone,
I hope I have posted this question in the right subforum.
We are currently doing some of the work ourselves and installing Fermacell boards in our timber frame house. During the briefing by the company (general contractor), we were told to apply the Fermacell adhesive between the boards (by the way, on the walls, not the ceiling!), then press the boards firmly together edge to edge and then staple them. We have followed this procedure throughout the house and have always tried to minimize the number of filled joints (although some inevitably occur, often due to small inaccuracies in measuring or cutting). By chance, I have now read that there should be a gap between the boards depending on the thickness of the boards for filling purposes and to allow for potential expansion of the wood/the board...
Therefore, I am a bit uncertain and would appreciate it if someone could clarify this for me. I have seen the official Fermacell instructions, but I am not sure to what extent they partly apply to boards on the ceiling and so on.
Thanks in advance!
