Hello,

My girlfriend and I have been considering building our own home for some time. Land and financing are not an issue. However, we have developed a bit of a fondness for the well-known "Swedish houses."

Does anyone here have one? What are your experiences?

Pros and cons?

What I know from Sweden are simple wooden cabins with a stove and electric heating. They will likely have little in common with the standards commonly required and prescribed in Germany. 🙂

There must be specialized suppliers for this type of house. I would try searching for and contacting them.

I also think they are really pretty and would love to have an original! Where can you order them? Does anyone have one and would like to share photos with us? I’m really interested.

There are prefabricated house providers who build a house that looks like a traditional Swedish house on the outside, but inside it is an energy-efficient house. However, it definitely won’t be cheap. Certainly not under 250,000€ (about 270,000 USD). My provider built one near Karlsruhe—it looks really stylish. But inside, it doesn’t have much in common with the Swedish houses in Sweden.
