Hello everyone,
I have a photovoltaic system on my roof along with a battery storage. I originally signed the contract through Sonnen, so I have a Sonnen battery storage system. By now, I’m not so sure if Sonnen is the right choice for me. I do have a certain amount of free electricity (which keeps decreasing), I pay a monthly installment, and I also submit my EEG (renewable energy) report to Sonnen. I’m not an expert, but a simple calculation makes me believe that I might be better off with another provider.
Has anyone had experience with canceling a contract with Sonnen to switch to another provider? Are there any issues with the battery since it is from Sonnen? Would I still be able to use the Sonnen app, or does the new provider’s app also retrieve data from the Sonnen battery? I would like to switch to a dynamic electricity provider.
If anyone has experience with this, please share your insights.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not a genius, but the simple back-of-the-envelope calculation makes me think I would be better off elsewhere. Your simple back-of-the-envelope calculation is very likely correct. Many of these contracts were sold with the technically flawed logic that you would "get back" your own electricity, so it would be cost-effective.

How you can cancel and what exactly you are canceling is stated in your contract.

I would like to switch to a dynamic electricity supplier. You risk falling for the next sales trend. A dynamic tariff can become a cost trap as soon as a few people in the household don’t pay attention to their power consumption and use appliances at the wrong time or at the wrong intensity. As far as I know, you have a battery coupled purely in DC, which doesn’t provide any buffering effect in winter at all.
Dynamic tariffs can be great but can also turn into a financial disaster.
