I would tear out the tiles first, even though it means a lot of work.

I faced a similar decision myself when we completely renovated our detached house.

It turned out to be the right choice.

Thank you. Yes, I actually think that’s the best approach. Even though it’s a lot of work. But I believe I will get one or two expert opinions first; maybe, if necessary, it can be avoided after all. But if it doesn’t help, the stuff will just have to come out. 🙂

Are the tiles in good condition, and is the surface still well preserved? If so, you can save a lot of time and effort by getting a good cleaner and thoroughly cleaning the tiles. This is much less labor-intensive than tearing them out.

It is not a problem to install parquet flooring over tiles, provided the tiles are firmly bonded to the subfloor.
