Hello everyone,

we have purchased and renovated an older house (built in 1970). Unfortunately, we later realized that although the house is connected to the street sewer system, it is only through a septic tank. So, for now, all waste ends up there... which means it is still in use.

We now want to have parking spaces built, and this is only possible in this area. I am concerned whether building over a septic tank is even possible. Won’t the entire tank sink under the weight of a car?

The septic tank is quite large (I don’t have exact dimensions) and made of concrete. It has a concrete cover on top.

Perhaps someone can answer my question?

Hello

Surely no one can do it like that.
Why not replace the pipeline from the house to the street and then fill in the trench?

The street sewer system appears to be at a higher level. This is because the location is on a slope. The house was built first, and the street and sewer system were added later. The garden, the drainage pipe, and the pit are also at a lower level.

How does the connection from the excavation to the sewer work if the road is at a higher level?

Okay, unnecessary question – I’ve already answered it myself.

Hello

The crucial factor is the invert level of the sewer pipe.
I find it hard to imagine that the inflow to the sump is positioned below the outlet.
That would mean the pipe from the house to the sump would constantly be filled with wastewater.
