ᐅ Painting an exterior staircase: which paint and primer to use?

Hello,

I have an exterior staircase like the one in the picture and would like to paint it. Unfortunately, I have no knowledge about paints or primers. Maybe someone can help me so the paint won’t start peeling after just one year.

I would not paint the steps. That will only improve their appearance temporarily. The steps will always experience wear and tear. It’s better to simply clean them occasionally.

The only thing that will probably stay in place on such a staircase are carpet runners.
