Hi everyone,

My oven keeps heating up and getting hotter and hotter. At 150°C (300°F), it’s probably already at least 200°C (390°F). What could be causing this? Do ovens have fuses or thermal cut-offs that can fail? Could it be that this oven is wired incorrectly? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello jamesbond,

are you really sure that the oven gets that hot? I mean... how do you estimate that the oven is 50°C (90°F) hotter than the temperature control shows? Maybe something is broken in it?

yung 😉

Hello yung,

I don’t think you can estimate the oven temperature. Of course, it’s possible that the oven has fuses that have now blown. But I would definitely call an electrician anyway, because you should not mess around with high voltage. It’s just too dangerous!!!!

hi
I agree with the previous speaker. Never work on high-voltage electrical systems yourself, especially if you don’t know what is causing the fault. It could be that a cable is simply connected incorrectly or has burnt out, which might be why the oven is getting hotter. Definitely have a professional check it out and don’t try to fix it yourself.
