Brombadegs31 Aug 2011 16:25Hi,
I am looking for people who have received a building kit and then constructed the house themselves. It doesn’t matter whether it’s timber frame, solid construction, or something else.
Could someone get in touch and share their experience?
Thank you, Bromi

Sorry, had to say it. 😀

Brombadegs31 Aug 2011 20:28Yes, that was clear. Could you please describe the issue in more detail? It’s not like I’m expecting only positive things here.
Thanks, Bromi

What you would actually face there are things that should be answered by people who might have already done it before.

Bauexperte31 Aug 2011 23:56Hello,
Do you know anyone who holds a certification in electrical work and plumbing? Someone who can possibly support you with expert knowledge during the rest of the interior work? Yes/No?
If the answer is "yes," it will probably go reasonably well. If the answer is "no," save a bit more and hire a trusted architect or general contractor. 😉
Kind regards

Brombadegs1 Sep 2011 07:13Hi,
The trades won’t be a problem. I’m a property manager and therefore know reliable companies. It is definitely planned that the developer will deliver/build at most a “weather-tight” house. I want to hire and supervise the trades myself. No one is rushing us to finish and move in—the new house will be located 10–20 m (33–66 ft) behind the current one.
The thought is that there can be about a 50% cost difference between a kit and a shell construction. I want to find out if the difference is worth the extra effort. What you save could be spent on other things like tiles, or you could pay off the mortgage sooner.
Is there anyone here who has built their own house?
Regards, Bromi
