Hello everyone,
I came home from work today and noticed the following:
- The microwave is off and won’t turn on. When I open the microwave door, the turntable keeps spinning endlessly. Even when I close the door, it keeps spinning. So, I had to unplug the microwave from the outlet. Then I plugged it back in, opened the door, and the turntable started spinning again. This time, however, it stopped spinning when I closed the door. I also tried a different outlet, but unfortunately, the microwave still doesn’t work.
- The oven beneath the microwave is on, but it shows 12:00, which is typical when the oven has been switched off and on again. However, nobody was home today… Then I wanted to check if the oven works at all. Unfortunately, it doesn’t. No matter which mode I try, nothing happens inside, although the lights and the display clock are on. I also tried a different outlet with the oven—no success. Suddenly, I tried again, and it worked… but then it stopped working again.
The refrigerator is working fine.
All three appliances share a triple outlet in the kitchen…
Could it be that there was a power outage that somehow damaged the appliances?
I find that hard to believe since the refrigerator works and the other two devices were on but not used…
Does anyone have any idea what this might be?
Thanks

Apart from the fact that connecting these three devices to a triple socket is a highly questionable setup, I would measure the voltage... on the other hand, I would always bet that the refrigerator, due to its usually rather limited power consumption (typically only 220-240 volts), is the first to fail...

Definitely check the electrical outlets. It could be that the neutral conductor is partially burned out, which might explain why the devices are behaving so strangely.
