Hello everyone,
I recently got a KALLAX shelving unit from IKEA, which I usually place on a carpeted floor. I’ve noticed that the unit tends to tip over whenever I move it – for example, when rearranging or cleaning. It seems like the stability is significantly reduced on the carpet.
My question is: what could be the reason that the KALLAX unit is so unstable on the carpet and tips after being moved? Is it due to the feet, the carpet itself, or is there another common cause? Are there any tested solutions or modifications to prevent this problem permanently?
I look forward to your insights and tips!

Regular inspection and re-tightening significantly improve stability. That’s a good tip, thank you. I will check all the screws this weekend and might experiment with gliders to widen the feet.
One quick question: Is it risky to drill into the wood of the KALLAX units to manually attach larger feet? Or would that affect stability and the warranty?
Thanks for your helpful and clear answers so far!
