We will soon begin building our house with a local general contractor.
At the moment, we are still deciding on the bathroom fixtures. We are not really satisfied with the offered washbasins. Since it costs quite a lot of money, we want to make sure we really like them.
Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find stylish and somewhat "different" bathroom fixtures? I’m hoping our plumber will install them, but I think that’s negotiable. He is handling all the heating and plumbing work anyway.
Thanks for your valuable tips.

Take a look at bathroom showrooms and online.
You can spend a lot of money on plumbing fixtures. Don’t get carried away with design; focus primarily on functionality. Otherwise, you won’t enjoy it much later.
It should be easy to clean, not splash, and so on.
I think it should also match the style of the house. So, no “normal” house with extravagant bathroom fixtures. But that’s just my personal opinion.

As an idea, use a plywood board cut to any size (40mm (1.6 inches)) from the local timber supplier, placed on metal runners or partially mounted on the wall, with a countertop basin on top. We have used this setup three times recently; it’s very affordable, stylish, and offers flexible design options. For the faucet, I would either have it come from the wall (more expensive) or mounted on the countertop (what we use). Below, for example, a wide vanity cabinet from Ikea... add a bit of creativity, and you’ll have a smart and simple construction for relatively little money. You can also use an oak board, which is usually quite expensive, though I don’t see why more affordable softwood like spruce couldn’t be used instead.
