Hello, I currently have a blender that unfortunately can no longer handle harder ingredients like nuts or seeds. Cleaning it is also always very time-consuming because it cannot be disassembled.
I am looking for a blender that can really crush everything. This includes things like peanuts, chia seeds, sunflower seeds. Apples, pears, or other fruits should not just become a puree with small pieces but be blended finely (a smooth puree).
I usually make a smoothie from these ingredients that covers a large part of my daily vitamin and mineral intake.
So here are my requirements:
-Blends nuts and seeds into “dust”
-Can crush ice
-2L (67.6 fl oz) capacity
-Easy to clean
-Quiet operation is preferred
-Automatic run time (e.g., 30 seconds) is preferred
-Glass container instead of plastic is preferred
-Quality is important
I use the appliance almost daily. Longevity is an important factor.
If it comes with glass containers for storing with secure lids, that would be an additional plus.
I can consider a price of up to 500€ but it should be a top-quality device that perfectly meets my requirements and preferences.
My target price is more around 200-300€, but even then, my highlighted requirements must be met.

You’re mistaken here, Thorsten. It wouldn’t be the right device because the TM simply doesn’t have enough power or isn’t designed for that. So not a cannon, but in this case a needle 🙂I think I actually see it correctly, similar to you, just from a different perspective.
So – I don’t make smoothies either, I don’t like their taste.
I traditionally drink orange juice, apple juice, carrot juice, and tomato juice.
No smoothie has convinced me so far.
We’re dealing with a process here where the smallest particles need to be ground finely enough so they are not perceptible in a smoothie.
I believe the TM is not quite the right device for that. There are high-performance blenders specifically designed for those purposes and only those.
The TM could probably do a decent job – it really has enough power – about 80-90% good, but here 100% is required.
With the TM, too much residue would remain unmixed on the bowl walls; that is the problem, definitely not a lack of power. If you have experienced that with a TM, it was defective. Honestly. It even chops firewood; it breaks everything down. But the shape of the bowl is not suitable for this specific application.
Also, the TM can do much more (and very well), which the original poster doesn’t need. That’s why I called it “cannon to kill a sparrow” in my post. I actually advised against it in this case.
If I need a blender and not a universal kitchen machine, I buy a blender. The good ones aren’t cheap anyway…
I’m never upset about different opinions like yours – why would I be? It’s all about exchanging views, which is great.
Best regards,
Thorsten
Oh – PS:
Many years ago, I once used some loyalty points from a well-known department store chain and bought – since I couldn’t find anything else – a blender. A kind of "hand blender derivative." Crazy high speeds. Comes with multiple attachments. It has the brand Grundig on it. At the time, I felt uneasy… Grundig on a blender. I still have my C6200 and C5000 radios from Grundig in the living room (almost 40 years old), respected as classics (I was a big fan of Grundig as a kid/teenager; that was the best quality ever).
Well, the device was inexpensive since I used the points.
Anyway – the device isn’t bad at all. On the contrary, it’s actually quite good. It has power, chops well, and especially the attachment for vegetables or cheese (I often make homemade cheese spaetzle): for that, I regularly use this blender instead of the Thermomix. It shows no weaknesses. However, it would not be suitable for making smoothies.
