Marius_49143 Feb 2016 12:55Hi! I have a question for everyone who has already mounted the Metod kitchen cabinets from Ikea on the wall using the included rail: Is the suspension secure enough to fully load the cabinets with porcelain dishes?
The rail itself doesn’t seem to be the issue, but rather the plastic components that hook into the rail. These plastic parts are only 3.5mm (0.14 inches) thick and made of plastic. The entire load-bearing capacity of the wall cabinets depends on these plastic elements.
What experiences have you had with this mounting method? Good, bad? I’m interested to hear. Thanks!

IKEA-Experte3 Feb 2016 13:11Hello,
the plastic parts do not bear any load. They are only safety features that prevent the cabinet from being lifted, so the bracket cannot come off the rail.

Marius_49143 Feb 2016 13:30Thank you for your explanation! Ah, do you mean sliding the metal brackets of the cabinet onto the rail from the side? Then I can imagine that this is a secure way to fasten it.

IKEA-Experte3 Feb 2016 13:41You hang the metal brackets from above into the rail. The locking mechanism is only installed at the end, once the cabinet carcass is precisely aligned laterally.
The locking mechanism is not shown here, but it is useful to take a look at everything.

Marius_49143 Feb 2016 13:43Ok, I just discovered that the cabinet can be hung directly from the front onto the rail. Thanks for the clarification! Have a nice day!
