Hello everyone,
Between the light well and the house, we have a gap of about 3-4 cm (1.2-1.6 inches) in some places. I got a grate to cover the light well, but it does not cover the gap. I also cannot extend the grate because it is fixed with screws attached to the grate’s frame.
Now my questions:
- Is such a gap normal, and shouldn’t the grate fit flush against the house?
- Is there a type of brush seal (like those used on doors) that I could install on the house side?
Thanks and regards,
StarAce

I installed one of these because of the basement insulation and the resulting gap from the light well. The manufacturer’s grille covers the well but not the gap.
I used an angled metal strip from the hardware store to separate the gap from the light well (only the top 10cm (4 inches)). Behind that, I placed the same splash protection stones as on the left and right sides. For the paving and terrace, I had a larger stainless steel grille custom-made to cover the entire "gap" in one piece.
