Uwe82Hello everyone,
Next week our parquet flooring will arrive, which we plan to lay as a floating floor ourselves. It is a country-style plank, oiled, 3-layer, single-strip with a solid wood core layer.
Originally, I intended to use a random staggered pattern to minimize waste, of course respecting the minimum joint offset of 50cm (20 inches). However, someone who has laid several floors before (not a professional) told me they would lay the joints aligned in rows, creating a continuous joint every other row (English pattern). They said this would make the movements of the parquet more even, as adjacent planks would balance each other out. Otherwise, the joints could deform in a way that becomes quite visible.
Is there any truth to this, or does it not really matter?
