Hello,

We have an additional balcony in our new build that was sealed with a membrane over the insulation. Around the balcony is a stone edging, against which the membrane is laid.

What is the best way to install flooring here using WPC decking boards? I would like to raise the decking to the level of the stone edging to create a flat surface. But how do you attach supports or pedestals in this case? Drilling into the membrane would probably be a bad idea ;-)

Or can this be filled with other materials and the WPC boards simply laid on top?

When it comes to weeds, it’s mainly about the substructure. You can design that accordingly. Currently, in the rental property, we have cobblestone paving with concrete joints, as far as I can tell, and nothing grows through it (though we do get moss from above 🙂)

Exactly. There must be no soil present. The question is whether it’s possible to fix granite ceramic tiles onto a suitable sub-base.

My concrete slabs on the roof terrace above my garage are laid on pedestals. These pedestals are height-adjustable, which allowed the substructure to be built with a slope while keeping the slabs level.
Rainwater and other runoff drain through the joints between the concrete slabs, and there is a drain in the garage roof that channels the water to the gutter.

Search term: pedestal balcony slabs
