Hello everyone,
now that the painting is finished, we’re moving on to laying the tiles.
The last time I laid tiles was about 12 years ago.
We have now chosen tiles measuring 40 x 80 x 10 mm (1.6 x 3.1 x 0.4 inches).
Adhesive: Sopro Fliesenfest Extra
Flexible grout: Sopro FL
Schlüter movement profile Dilex 10 mm (0.4 inches)
Can anyone recommend which wedge system, tile cutter, possibly wet saw, and other tools are best to use?
We have about 120 m² (1,292 sq ft) of floor tiles and around 10 m² (108 sq ft) of wall tiles in the bathroom. Both are the same tiles.
Are expansion profiles under the doors the absolute best solution?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards, Markus

Proper planning of your installation joint is important, and be aware that long formats can cup.

Can anyone tell me which wedge system, tile cutter—possibly wet saw—and other tools are recommended? Personally, I’m not a fan of wedge systems. However, the rotating clamp tabs are great—and there are much more affordable options than Dahm. Since the tiles aren’t particularly large, a solid, classic tile cutter is sufficient (rent or buy—prices start around 300€ (about 320 USD), which gets you a decent tile cutter). You’ll also need an angle grinder. That’s basically it.
Besides that, invest enough time in planning the tile layout. It should result in a proper pattern.
