Hello everyone,
As part of our home renovation, we are planning to replace the old boiler with a new condensing boiler.
It is installed in the attic on an unfinished gable wall.
In this context—since the boiler will be removed anyway—I would like to improve the appearance of the wall.
I was thinking of attaching green drywall panels to it.
Load-bearing capacity should not be an issue because the panel in the boiler area would be fully glued to the structural wall (Poroton hollow brick).
However, now I am wondering:
Is it even allowed—due to fire safety regulations or similar reasons—to mount a boiler on drywall panels?
Or what alternatives could be used?
Best regards, Olli

Prefabricated houses or timber-frame houses don’t suddenly burst into flames if a candle falls over...
In my opinion, it doesn’t really matter what type of panel you ultimately screw onto the wall. However, since the gable wall probably won’t be excessively large, it can be worth spending a little extra to improve fire protection.
Example: Fermacell Firepanel a1

Where exactly should there be a fire protection issue with a gypsum fiberboard panel? The 12.5mm (0.5 inch) thick panel is classified as A2,s1-d0 / DIN 13501-1, which means it is non-combustible.

Hello,
there has unfortunately been a delay with the boiler, but I still want to give you some feedback on it.
I asked the chimney sweep, and he had no objections, so no problem there.
However, I decided to have the new boiler installed directly on the unfinished wall.
The reason for this was simply a time issue.
