Since 2007, we have had a white 8-compartment Expedit with boxes and two drawers in the bathroom. For the first four years, it was used just as a shelf, and for the last three years, it’s been placed right next to the bathtub.
So far—knock on wood—nothing has swollen, warped, or anything like that.
I would go with the "try and error" approach and test it out—you might find the parts secondhand on platforms like Quoka, eBay Classifieds, or similar.
