Hello everyone,

I am considering using BESTÅ units as a base for the washbasin and as a bathroom cabinet. Does anyone know if they are suitable for humid environments, or would it be better not to try this?

Thanks,
Tom

No. They are not.
But I'm sure the first person will show up soon to argue endlessly about it. 😀

Well, I still have to write something.
The board-on-frame construction alone makes BESTÅ unsuitable as a base for a washbasin cabinet.

Cool idea for sure.
Since 2007, we have had a white 8-compartment Expedit with boxes and two drawers in the bathroom. For the first four years, it was used just as a shelf, and for the last three years, it’s been placed right next to the bathtub.

So far—knock on wood—nothing has swollen, warped, or anything like that.

I would go with the "try and error" approach and test it out—you might find the parts secondhand on platforms like Quoka, eBay Classifieds, or similar.
