Hello, is it acceptable to use regular polystyrene insulation around the window instead of extruded polystyrene (XPS)? The facade will be finished with facing bricks.

as long as the EPS boards are installed behind a cladding – in this case, facing bricks – there is no problem.

Request a datasheet for the installed pre-frame as well as the weight of the window units from the window manufacturer. This will help you determine if the frame's load-bearing capacity is sufficient. There can be significant differences.
