Hello everyone,

We have a folding glass door in the living room. Unfortunately, the guide rail is made entirely of aluminum, which creates a thermal bridge. Additionally, the door only has a brush seal, which, especially in the current weather, lets a lot of cold air into the house. This air condenses right at the guide rail, and I find myself wiping the rail dry from the inside several times a day to prevent water damage to the floor.

This issue is already with a lawyer, but I’m looking for a quick solution to insulate it from the outside somehow, as mold is starting to form on the side walls and winter hasn’t even properly started yet.

Would XPS boards placed on the outside of the door help at all? I’m sure there will still be gaps where cold air can sneak in... Maybe sandbags over them to seal the gaps?

It really doesn’t need to look good, but the moisture damage on the side walls definitely needs to be stopped somehow.

Thanks in advance for your creative ideas!

Christian
